Gun Safety – The Mainstream Media Plot Twist

The National Shooting Sports Foundation recently responded to the media frenzy about the shooting accident involving a 9-year old girl and her instructor, Charles Vacca, who got shot in the head. The NSSF feels that the mainstream media is once again coercing the public through their news broadcasts to advocate gun-control. The NSSF furthermore, pointed out that credible, effective firearm safety efforts doesn’t need to sanctimonious rhetoric, involve divisive tactics and videos that are catered to parents in order to scare them off of responsible firearm ownership.

Bloomberg plans to fund a pro gun-control group called “Everytown for Gun Safety,” over $50 million to pursue stricter anti gun legislation. Bloomberg’s other gun-control lobbyists which include Shannon Watts’ Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Mayors Against Illegal Guns will join hand-in-hand with this new group to lobby for more gun laws. According to NSSF what this group will accomplish is nothing short of an enhancement of the already existing gun laws in America. The worst case scenario is it will cripple businesses who are selling firearms as their primary function. The firearms industry is worth $31.8 billion annually and if legislation will make it hard for gun sales to thrive in the US, then this will not go without consequences economically.

Experts now predict that the new group’s slogan and mission will most likely be the same as every other gun-control groups’ mission, which is to curb guns from law abiding citizens. Sadly this will have no credibility as gun owners know responsible gun ownership.

All major firearms manufacturers as well as the NSSF have their own separate effective gun safety initiatives year-in and year-out and they’ve been doing this for decades; however, the tests does not – in any way – result in confirming that there is a need for more gun-control. The safety programs of the NSSF, NRA and other similar organizations have yielded fruitful results. They even participate in hunter safety training. In fact, in the last 10 years alone it has decreased firearms accidents down to 22% which gun-control lobbyists completely ignore. According to the FBI statistics about less than 1% of all firearm accidents in the United States are fatal and those involved in such accidents did not have proper gun safety training.

This is a major blow to the incessant ranting of gun-control lobbyists and is the reason why the right to bear arms could never be repealed.

Gun safety statistics in America:

  • Firearms manufacturers mandated new gun locks for all their products and over the past 15 years there were over 70 million gun locks included with every purchase.
  • NSSF’s Project ChildSafe program successfully distributed more than 36 million free firearm safety kits that include a gun locks to thousands of communities across the United States with the help of over 15,000 law enforcement offices.
  • Last year alone, NSSF has also successfully sent out 3.6 million firearm safety materials as per request from responsible gun owners. The NSSF constantly receives inquiries from various communities regarding expert advice and gun safety materials, which in turn promotes safe handling of firearms and secure storage.
NSSF’s new slogan is “Own It? Respect It. Secure It,” which is very appropriate for their Project ChildSafe campaign.
  • According to a report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last May 2014, only 1.5% of accidental fatalities among children below 14 years of age involve a firearm. The report also showed that poisoning, drowning, motor vehicles, fires, falls and suffocation rank higher than firearm-related fatal accidents.

Despite safety training and precaution, tragic accidents are unavoidable. However, organizations like the NRA and NSSF are always at the forefront when it comes to gun safety in order to prevent such accidents. Gun-control advocates only see it one way and turn their blind eye on the good efforts that these groups have done to keep people safe. Had they attended a safe direction firearm training, then they wouldn’t be as much as a gun-control freak as politicians with gun-control agenda would have them believe. By design, a gun is meant to immobilize or kill any living thing and there have been many instances where guns saved people’s lives from intruders and psychopaths, but the media only focus their cameras on gun-related incidents or accidents. With budgets as high as $50 million, who wouldn’t twist the truth for a handsome fee?
